OnePlus 3 is almost six months old since its release in June this year, but people are already talking about its successor, OnePlus 4. According to several reports, the new iteration will boast of improved features and more powerful specs that will make it an eligible competitor of latest flagships, including the iPhone 7.
Rumor has it that OnePlus 4 will have a much bigger RAM, measured at 8 GB paired compared to its predecessor's 6 GB. Additionally, it was reported that OnePlus 4 will have a 256-GB of external memory storage via the microSD card slot. The upcoming iteration is also expected to have a more powerful chipset - the Snapdragon 830, which has yet to be released. In other reports, it was speculated that the smartphone could have a Snapdragon 821. Then again, there's also the possibility that the Chinese tech firm will not use Qualcomm's chipsets.
As for the camera, Android Headlines reported that OnePlus 4 may feature a 23-megapixel main camera at the back. This will be a great improvement from OnePlus 3's 16-megapixel rear camera. It is also expected that the Dash Charge feature found in the previous model might return for the next iteration. There may not be any news about the device's screen size or resolution, but it's possible that OnePlus 4 will retain the Full HD resolution of the current model.
It's early to tell when OnePlus 4 will be released. OnePlus 3 is still considered a new phone, but there are reports suggesting that the former could be available in 2017 around April to May. Samsung Galaxy S8 is expected to launch in Q1 2017 and OnePlus is rumored to compete with the flagship, so an earlier release would make sense. Based on the price of the previous model, OnePlus 4 could carry a price tag of $400. Since none of the abovementioned reports have been confirmed, readers should take them with a pinch of salt.
