However, Fox TV's chairman Dana Walden slammed the reports and already approved the making of "Wayward Pines" Season 3. In fact, she thinks that the Blake Crouch's novel series, which the show is based, should continue its TV adaptation.

Dana Walden revealed that fans are about to witness major creative changes in the coming "Wayward Pines" Season 3. The forthcoming first two episodes might focus mainly on the new concept of the show, but from the third episode onwards, it will take its new progress. Abbies will be the main feature of "Wayward Pines" Season 3 and they, too, might conquer the humanity by transforming humans into their kind. Hence, a battle between Abbies and Humans will be witnessed.

In fact, GamenGuide recently reported that Blake Crouch himself wants to explore the connection of Abbies and Humans in "Wayward Pines" Season 3. However, it is not yet disclosed how it will unfold. In an interview with Zap2it, the 38-year-old novelist even asserted that the coming third installment might be the end of the TV series.
"I hope [the series finale] would stay true to the theme and the tone we've established," Blake Crouch said. "I would want a real ending that is honest and would probably have some incredible poignancy and bittersweet moments." Fox has yet to announce the coming of "Wayward Pines" Season 3.
