Sam Heughan has been teasing a lot of fans with bits and pieces of the highly-anticipated "Outlander" season 3. The recent ones suggest that season 3 may probably air later in 2017 as it won't be done filming until May. While this doesn't bode well for the fans, Heughan revealed the location of the season finale.
'Outlander' Season 3 To Air Late In 2017?
In an interview with Harper's Bazaar, Sam Heughan -- who portrays Jamie Fraser -- revealed that "Outlander" season 3 will wrap filming in May 2017. "Outlander" season 3 is based on the third book of Diana Gabaldon's "Voyager," which featured a lot of location changes, making the production a logistical nightmare. However, fans will be treated to some great sceneries. In fact, the season finale for the "Outlander" season 3 will be done in South Africa.

Currently, "Outlander" is commissioned to renew for two more seasons by Starz. While Heughan assured fans that season 4 will start production not long after "Outlander" season 3 production wraps up, the hiatus may still take months. To recall, Starz divided season 1 into two parts and it took 11 months before season 2 aired this year, Cinema Blend noted. While "Outlander" season 3 started filming this summer, it won't be done until May 2017 and there's a lot of post-production processes to consider.
"Outlander" Season 3 Ends in Africa?
Meanwhile, Sam Heughan had a separate interview with Elle and dished out more details about "Outlander" season 3. Heughan said that "Voyager" translates to strong emotions and can be very exciting to fans. While the second book delved into a lot of politics and intrigue, the third one will deal with a lot of emotions considering the 20-year time jump. As previously reported by GamenGuide, fans will see the reunion of Jamie and Claire (Caitriona Balfe).
