Game developer Bungie is getting ready to launch a children's book in October 2016. Titled "D is for Destiny," the rhyming alphabet book was announced by developer and publisher Insight Editions.
Polygon wrote that "D is for Destiny" was created by Bungie artists and writers. It was borne out of a bedtime story book that would have been read to children growing up in the last city on Earth in "Destiny." "D is for Destiny" aims to take young readers on an adventure through the universe via the alphabet. The book was originally made in 2013 as an internal holiday present for parents at Bungie, and spans 40 pages.
GameRant revealed that "D is for Destiny" goes through the entire alphabet and relates it with various terms in "Destiny" lore, such as A for "Adventure," B for "Be Brave" and C for "Cabal," among others. According to Bungie, friends of employees started asking where they could get a copy of "D is for Destiny." In 2014, Bungie published "D is for Destiny" and offered it on their online store. The children's book is still available on BungieStore.com.
Overall, "D is for Destiny" serves as a good alternative for gamer parents who wish to start educating their children about the science-fiction story of the game. Children can be entertained with the various elements in the solar system, the characters and groups in the plot, as well as the amusing rhymes. The book has been laid out with plenty of colorful images and lines that can be read by parents and children together. In the meantime, the "Destiny: Rise of Iron" expansion DLC recently launched on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
"Destiny: Rise of Iron" is the fourth expansion in the first-person shooter and features the new zone, called Plaguelands. The content provided new maps, mode and weapons, among others. Now, "D is for Destiny" can be purchased at Barnes & Noble or Amazon, after publishing and distribution was handled by Insight Editions. "D is for Destiny" will become available on Oct. 4, 2016. The hardcover book will retail at $14.99.
