Jane (Gina Rodriguez) from "Jane the Virgin" didn't get to have her happy ending when her husband-to-be, Michael, (Brett Dier) was shot towards the end of the season 2 finale. Fans are now wondering if Michael will be alive in "Jane the Virgin" Season 3. So far, what's known about the character is that he's recovering in a hospital but it remains unclear if he'll make it through alive.
According to several reports, Dier's character will indeed survive alive based on photos from "Jane the Virgin" Season 3 set. In addition, the trailer seems to hint that Michael will indeed be okay. In the teaser video (below), Jane was seen visiting Michael, although he is not doing do great. As reported in Bustle, Michael recuperating means that there's a big possibility that the series won't just write him off, especially when the love of his life was heard saying, "This is not the end of our story. Do you hear me, Michael?"
Meanwhile, showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman teased some hints that "Jane the Virgin" Season 3 will have some pretty interesting twists. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Urman revealed that the premiere episode picks up where it left off - which is after Michael got shot. This also means that fans will immediately find out what happens to Jane's fiancé. However, Urman has been tight-lipped on whether or not Michael will survive the ordeal.
What Urman did reveal is that Janes' love life will be even more complicated, especially with Michael in the hospital and her ex - way before she had a life with Michael - decided to make a comeback. Gaston Villanueva has already been confirmed to join "Jane the Virgin" Season 3 and will play Jane's childhood crush, Sam.
Also, Urman shared that Jane will finally have sex in the next season - and the show might crush out the virgin in the series title. It remains to be seen who Jane gets to do the deed with; Urman even said to EW that "there's obviously a lot of tension and question marks over that" but the character will do it during the first half of season 3. "It's keeping me up at night," Urman continued. "We want to give real expectations, knowing that it doesn't always come together all at once." "Jane the Virgin" Season 3 premieres on Oct. 17, Monday, 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
