More attempts at "news" with with mysterious titles, trying to hype up rumors.
It's well known that Rockstar's next Grand Theft Auto title will feature three playable characters, one of whom is also rumored to be the game's main antagonist.
We've heard rumors about the possible voice actos for both Michael and Franklin, now, folks over at the GTAForums are speculating about the man behind the trifecta's resident sociopath, Trevor.
Fans are pointing to comedian and past GTA voice talent, RIck Shapiro, or his twin brother Rob. Rick had played a guest, Mason Waylon, on the show "Pacemaker," from Public Liberty Radio in Grand Theft Auto 4. We've seen former talent returning lately to do more work on the the next GTA, so anything's possible. However, Rick denies any involvement on his Twitter page.
Here's where you have to take a bit of a jump. Forum users noticed Rick's brother Rob made a number of his details on his Twitter private, which seemed to indicate (to forum members at least) figured he was trying to avoid an onslaught of questions about his potential role. However, despite making so many details private, he did post his cell phone number so people could contact him for gigs.
Obviously, fans are a little...committed to the game. Thoughts of respect for privacy tend to go out the window when it comes to folks on the 'net, hence, someone from the GTA forum decided to call Rob, who then posted the exchange on Reddit. Read it for yourself below.
"I tried to call him on my house phone a few times but he wasn't answering. He eventually called me back and he wasn't very happy about this whole situation. He said he was pissed off because everyone commenting on his Twitter, and said he doesn't get to talk to his friends and family that often, and he uses Twitter to chat to them. I asked him why he couldn't just say 'no,' about the questions we were asking him but he tried to avoid the question by saying, "What do you want from me?".
At this point, I was about to hang up.. I was literally about to push end call when I decided to ask, "Are you voice acting as Trevor. Yes or no?"... at first I thought he had ended the call but he said since stage life is hard for him right now, he has been looking into that venue (voice acting) BUT can't confirm anything. I then asked him if it were in the contract and he ended the call."
Obviously, nothing can be confirmed from that, or even if the call took place at all. The only other thing that seems to add some level of credibility, is that much like Rockstar's own Lazlow, who has been working as a writer, producer, and voice actor for the series since Grand Theft Auto 3, Rick is a friend of the Opie & Anthony radio show. Take from that what you will, but Lazlow's drawn on the show for a number of voice talents for numerous Rockstar projects in the past:
Host Anthony Cumia provided voices in both Vice City and Liberty City Stories, did the "Pissweiser" commercial in GTA IV, as well as the gun clerk in Red Dead Redemption. Third mic, comedian Jim Norton, also did voices for Bully and GTA IV as well. Does this mean anything? No, but it's an interesting connection nonetheless.
