Pokemon Bank is a Nintendo 3DS app that allows players to trade and store Pokemon among a number of games. Pokemon Bank will acquire a huge update on January 2017, particularly a national Pokedex. The feature was initially expected to become available in November 2016, but The Pokemon Company revealed that the launch date has been delayed.
Polygon reported that the national Pokedex is a new feature in Pokemon Bank that will gather data from any supported Pokemon game that links with it. The national Pokedex lets players view their whole Pokemon collection across all Nintendo 3DS titles. Although Pokemon games generally have a Pokedex, the national Pokedex in Pokemon Bank is expected to be the ultimate version that contains information on all creatures, regardless of the platform that players are using.
Pokemon.com stated that, at present, Pokemon Bank has been an essential tool for Pokemon gamers. The app requires a small annual fee to let players store and transfer their Pokemon collection between games. When Pokemon Bank is updated, players can use the app to transfer Pokemon that were captured in "Pokemon Red," "Pokemon Yellow" and "Pokemon Blue" via the Nintendo 3DS. Creatures from "Pokemon Omega Ruby," "Pokemon X," "Pokemon Alpha Sapphire" and "Pokemon Y" can also be moved into "Pokemon Sun and Moon" in the same manner.
Players can use their current Pokemon Bank account to transfer creatures from previous titles to "Pokemon Sun and Moon." However, players cannot transfer Pokemon from "Red, Blue and Yellow" to "Omega Ruby, Alpha Sapphire, X and Y." It is recommended that gamers install "Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow" on the same Nintendo 3DS device as Pokemon Bank. Considering the growing number of Pokemon with each title in the franchise, a national Pokedex in Pokemon Bank would be an efficient tool for organization purposes.
The Pokemon Company announced that there will also be more creatures in the upcoming "Pokemon Sun and Moon" titles, which will release on Nov. 18, 2016. Players will need the new Pokemon Bank feature more as their collection grows. More updates and details on Pokemon Bank are expected soon.
