Despite players finding similarities between "Dragon Quest Builders" and Mojang's popular sandbox game "Minecraft," "Dragon Quest" series game producer Noriyoshi Fujimoto believes that the game is completely different. The two games have been compared up to the hilt for a long time because of its major themes being town construction and open world sandbox.
Some have even considered "Dragon Quest Builders" and "Minecraft" as clones. However, Fujimoto says the similarities end there and that the game is completely different. He stated that the game is an RPG right through despite the sandbox and building mechanics. He added that the game also features certain familiar themes to please "Dragon Quest" fans.
As per Hardcore Gamer, the pace of "Dragon Quest Builders" is dictated totally by how the player approaches the game. Players can complete the game in 10 hours if they choose to complete only the main story. But, it can extend to well above 100 hours if the optional quests and activities are played. "There are four different stages, all are unique from each other with different challenges and unique things to do," Fujimoto said.
"Dragon Quest Builders" is a game that anyone can pick up and start playing without any prior building game or sandbox experience. As per Mobile & Apps, the game is extremely addictive with players spending well over fifty days trying to build buildings and kingdoms. There is no new game plus mode though there is a separate free build mode.
The free build mode allows players to build without limits and new items are unlocked. Whatever a player constructs in free build mode can be sent to other players. It is a single-player only mode and requires online connectivity. Players can also call for help from other players in this mode.
"Dragon Quest Builders" will be launched on PlayStation 4 and PS Vista on Oct. 11. Stay tuned to Gamenguide for more "Dragon Quest Builders" news and updates!
