Big movies are usually followed by sequels, and for "Jurassic World," the hotly anticipated film is on the way. Fans just can't get enough of the Colin Trevorrow-directed film that they've been clamoring for a sequel. What's exciting is that "Jurassic World" won't only be followed by "Jurassic World 2," but the movie has been confirmed to be a trilogy.
Rumors about "Jurassic World" being a trilogy started last year, but director Juan Antonio Bayona , who will be helming "Jurassic World 2," confirmed the news of the trilogy at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) early this month. "The whole Jurassic World is a trilogy that Colin Trevorrow has envisioned," Bayona shared to LRM Online. "We're writing the second chapter, and it's very interesting where he's leading the story."
So far, plot details for "Jurassic World 2" have not been officially confirmed, but Trevorrow did hint last year that the sequel's story is inspired by a quote from "Jurassic Park's" Dr. Alan Grant (Sam Neil): "Dinosaurs and man, separated by 65 million years of evolution have been thrown back into the mix together. How can we know what to expect?" Rumor has it that the sequel will introduce new dinosaur breeds. This time, the dinosaurs will play the hero as they are rumored to be domesticated and even trained to fight crime.
Meanwhile, fans think that "Jurassic World 2" will be darker and grittier, considering that Bayona is taking the director's seat. The Spanish director is notable for his gothic TV series, "Penny Dreadful," as well as horror flicks "A Monster Calls" and "The Orphanage."
"Jurassic World 2" is scheduled to release on June 22, 2018. The sequel will welcome back Bryce Dallas Howard as Claire Dearing and Chris Pratt as Owen Grady. The sequel already has an official title, but this will be revealed later, Bayona has confirmed, according to Scified.
