The 'Pokemon Go' update has already started releasing in various places on Android phones. iOS users may need to wait as late as Tuesday for Apple to approve the release of the update. The new update features Buddy Pokemon where players have the option of walking with their chosen Pokemon and earning Candy by walking for a certain distance. Players who have rare Pokemon or those hatched from eggs can earn candy which can be used in the evolution or strengthening of Pokemon characters.
In 'Pokemon Go', players can make a buddy Pokemon by clicking on the trainer icon and the buddy option can be found on the bar in the bottom left, which when clicked will show one's Pokemon; from there, find a buddy Pokemon or switch to another Pokemon. The chosen character will either stand next to the trainer, sit on his shoulder, or fly behind, depending on the type of Pokemon, iDigital Times reported.
The distance each Pokemon needs to walk in order to win candies depends on the Pokemon. For instance, a Pidgey only requires one kilometer to win a candy, while Dratinis has to go through five kilometers just for one candy. 'Pokemon Go' has not yet made a concrete list to show the distance each Pokemon will require to win candy but Reddit users made a list based on their experience from the game. Additionally, there is reportedly no daily limit on the amount of candies one can get.
The 'Pokemon Go' update reportedly does not support rooted and jailbroken phones. Niantic is reportedly focusing on eliminating bots and scrapers from the game so that it was made exclusively available from the official Google Play Store or iTunes App Store only, Android Authority reported.
Aside from "Pokemon Go"Buddy System, the update also improved performance of the game so that when devices switch networks, the application will not hang or stop updating. Other improvements include 'Pokemon GO Plus' support, minor text fixes, and fixing an issue on eggs hatching without displaying the animation. Watch "Pokemon Go" Update here.
