The number of esteemed world leaders in the Civilization franchise continue to grow as the sixth installment is about to be released very soon. The latest teaser for "Civilization VI" features King Harald Hardrada, a fierce Viking leader who ruled Norway and was known for his great raids. While Harald is a big historical figure, those who do not care much would look forward to what army he has to offer and how fast his Civilization can advance.
International Business Times reported that King Harald's naval units can effectively do coastal raids in a fairly early civilization and has the Viking Longship. These naval units do not use up anything to embark or disembark and can move to ocean tiles if Shipbuilding is fully researched. Norway's unique unit in the game is the Berserker, which is quite vulnerable when defending but gets an attack bonus since pillaging will cost one less movement unit. Norway's unique building is the Stave Church which features all the benefits of the temple but gets more additional faith adjacency bonus.
The Bitbag also reported that there are at least four different types of justified warfare in "Civilization VI" as revealed by Firaxis in a livestream. Like its predecessors, players can wage war against another civilization to enforce territorial rights, for economic reasons, blatant hostility, failure to agree on diplomatic and trade terms and more. In "Civilization VI," players can wage different types of wars with the end goal of ultimately becoming the supreme civilization, or opt for a diplomatic route if one desires. Once a player obtains Diplomatic Service, a Holy, Reconquest, Protectoriate, or Liberation war can already be declared against other civilizations.
While war plays a large role in the game, a player can actually fight other civilizations to reclaim cities without any penalties. If a Liberation war is declared against another civilization, that only means that a player is aiming to return conquered cities to their original civilizations. Reconquest wars, on the other hand, are for taking back cities that another Civilization has taken away from a player. A Protectorate war is a fulfilment of a pledge to protect other cities which does not carry with it warmonger penalties.
