‘Pokemon GO’ Latest News & Update: Niantic Still Keeps Captcha System Unofficial; New Security Measures Being Developed?

Cheating in "Pokemon GO" has got even tougher with Niantic introducing the popular captcha system to its game. Although nothing has been made official yet and only some players have encountered the new captcha system, the measure has been clearly implemented to deter cheaters, bots and spammers in messing with the "Pokemon GO" gameplay.

The captcha system ensures that only real players are playing the game and not taking help from third party apps and bots. After Niantic surprised "Pokemon GO" players permanently banning cheaters and taking their accounts down, this is yet another layer added to its anti-cheat system.

While some believe that this "Pokemon GO" anti-cheat system can be easily bypassed by hackers and spammers, some believe it is simply an interim measure adopted by Niantic before the company rolls out its more foolproof settings. As many are aware of, the captcha system requires users answer questions either in the form of inputting characters, numbers, a mix of both or sometimes solving simple puzzles. No bot can answer the questions, only users can. "Pokemon GO" players will be asked such questions at regular intervals just to ensure it's a human at play.

This kind of system is already prevalent in numerous websites and users frequently encounter during registrations and after inputting incorrect passwords. The "Pokemon GO" captcha system may be able to ward off miscreants for a while but surely not for long. As already mentioned, the update has been spotted only on certain accounts.

Certain cheats and hacks may still work as long as it's the player using them and not bots. However, "Pokemon GO" players are on tricky ground and Niantic has at least been able to spread the fear with its anti-cheat system. Many are now refraining from cheats and hacks in the fear of having their accounts banned.

Creator of FastPokeMap said in August that the app may soon be taken down by Niantic due to the strict security measures. However, there is still no news as to when Niantic will make its "Pokemon GO" anti-cheat system official, writes Mobile & Apps.
