Activision's upcoming video game adaptation of the hit AMC TV series "The Walking Dead," will see actors Norman Reedus and Michael Rooker voice their respective characters.
According to an article on the Digital Spy, Walking Dead: Survival Instinct will take place before the events of the television series and follows "Dixon brothers Daryl and Merle as they fight their way across the Georgia countryside to reach Atlanta."
IGN reported that the gameplay will offer gamers the choose between fighting or using stealth. Players will take on the role of Daryl as he attempts to avoid detection from zombies that hunt using sight, sound and smell.
Developers Terminal Reality is attempting to create a game that is authentic to the television series and will draw in its fan base.
"Our goal is to shape Daryl authentically, chronicling everything that happens to him from the initial Wildfire Global Outbreak until he joins with Rick Grimes's group at that quarry near Atlanta," explained creative director Drew Haworth. "And on the way, we'll reveal a couple of our own interesting backstory surprises that fans haven't already gleaned from the series."
The first-person shooter was announced earlier this year and will definitely feature some zombies, according to Haworth.
"Players will have the opportunity to meet some interesting characters and have a hand in deciding their fate," Haworth said. "Oh, and there are some really cool zombies."
Def Jam Rapstar and Ghostbusters: The Video Game developer, Terminal Reality is developing the game with Activision publishing. Walking Dead: Survival Instinct will release on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC in 2013.
AMC's "The Walking Dead" television series recently wrapped up the first half of its third season. The Walking Dead season three's premiere episode was watched by 10.9 million viewers making it the most watched basic cable drama telecast in history, according to Entertainment Weekly.
