The countdown has begun, as "The Walking Dead" season 7 is finally returning to AMC this October. A new trailer has arrived for the highly anticipated new season that features the bat-yielding heavyweight villain Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and with the season opener, fans are expecting to see whose life he takes first.
According to Screencrush, the new trailer delves deeper into who Negan is, showcasing his home and what role he will play in "The Walking Dead" season 7. It seems that no one really knows the truth about his first victim just yet, as production is remaining tight lipped, going to the extent of shooting death scenes for all of the major players in the series just to make sure the cat doesn't get out of the bag.
One clue as to who Negan's first victim is Lauren Cohan's absence from the set as they shoot "The Walking Dead" season 7. According to Vanity Fair, both viewers and fans who follow the cast closely on social media are sure that it's Cohan's Maggie who will be given the boot, for two reasons.
One is that showrunner Scott Gimple declared that the death of the major player will cause quite a stir among viewers and critics. Secondly, there's the line that Negan delivered, implying that both Rick Grimes and his son, Carl would live on to be terrorized by Negan and his trusty bat, Lucille.
Meanwhile, "The Walking Dead" season 7 welcomes some new series regulars, namely Tom Payne, who plays Jesus, Austin Amelio, who plays Dwight, and Xander Berkeley, who plays Gregory. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Melissa McBride, who plays Carol on the show, promised that next season's premiere will definitely be "worth the wait" for fans and viewers alike, regardless of the reaction they got from last season's finale. She even went on to say that cliffhangers are "just part of the experience."
The experience continues when "The Walking Dead" season 7 premieres on AMC this October 23.
Everything you have belongs to Negan now. #TWD returns Sunday, October 23.
