Previously, Warner Bros. stated that "Mortal Kombat XL" and Mortal Kombat Pack 2 will not be available on PC. However, new reports surfaced that a patch will be available to let PC gamers enjoy the game and new content as well.
Earlier in 2016, NetherRealm announced that "Mortal Kombat XL" and Kombat Pack 2 will not arrive on PC. The game developer most likely intended to avoid the troubled launch for its base game's PC version the past year. A new installation approach was used for players to enjoy "Mortal Kombat" without having to download all the files. However, some gamers complained about failing to install the game at all, crashes and other issues. The problems were subsequently addressed, which may have prompted NetherRealm to finally feature the game on PC.
Series creator Ed Boon teased that "Mortal Kombat XL" and a couple of Kombat Packs will become available on PC. A test version of "Mortal Kombat XL" was offered on Steam temporarily, confirming that the titles are indeed coming on the platform. Qloc was revealed to be heading the PC version of "Mortal Kombat XL." This is instead of the original PC port developer, High Voltage, and original game developer NetherRealm Studios.
GameSpot reported that "Mortal Kombat XL" will include all the content from the main game, "Kombat Pack 1," and "Kombat Pack 2," which did not launch on PC before, as well. The first pack features four characters and new skins. The second pack includes four new characters. "Mortal Kombat XL" gamers can find movie personalities like Predator, Jason Voorhees and Leatherface in the new packs.
VG247 revealed that players who already own "Mortal Kombat XL" will get a patch on Oct. 4, 2016. This will provide balance adjustments and enhanced online play, which was shown in the test version. The price of "Mortal Kombat XL" has not been announced yet. Players can also purchase Kombat Pack 2 independently on Steam.
There is a Premium Edition that includes both the main game and Kombat Pack 1, priced at $40. "Mortal Kombat XL" on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 released in March at a price of $60.
