"Agents Of SHIELD" Season 4 air date is fast approaching and fans are excited about what the new season could bring. Now, showrunners reveal that the series will feature a Ghost Rider, but not the version popularized by actor Nicolas Cage.
Nicolas Cage Declined Offer To Join 'Agents of SHIELD' Season 4 Cast
It was revealed that Nicolas Cage was previously approached to join the "Agents of SHIELD" Season 4 cast as the Johnny Blaze/Ghost Rider. However, Cage declined the offer prompting the showrunners to consider other alternatives, reports Screen Crush.
But, fans need not worry, the series will have the Ghost Rider it needs with the arrival of "Agents of SHIELD" Season 4 air date later this month. However, it will not be the Johnny Blaze version of Ghost Rider; it will be the Robbie Reyes version.
Different Ghost Rider In Upcoming "Agents of SHIELD" Season 4
The series will definitely have a Ghost Rider in the coming season. In fact, actor Gabriel Luna was already announced to join the "Agents of SHIELD" Season 4 cast as Robbie Reyes, one of the four versions of Ghost Riders in Marvel's storyline.
For the uninitiated "Agents of SHIELDS" Season 4 fans, there are actually four versions of Ghost Riders. The first is Johnny Blaze introduced by Marvel back in 1972. He is followed by Daniel Ketch, Johnny's younger brother, which was introduced in 1990. A third and only female Ghost Rider, Alejandra, was introduced in the storyline back in 2011.
The youngest and fourth Ghost Rider is Robbie Reyes who was only debuted last 2013. When "Agents of SHIELD" Season 4 release date finally arrives later this month, fans will be seeing the Robbie Reyes version of Ghost Rider which will be played by Gabriel Luna.
Things Will Unravel For "Agents of SHIELD" Team
The last season has been traumatic for the team having lost a team member in their clash with the Hive. Yet, when "Agents of SHIELD" Season 4 release date comes, the team will try to act nonchalant about it going about their business like nothing happened.
However, not acknowledging their emotional trauma will take a toll on the team. "Agent of SHIELD" Season 4 Executive Producer Maurissa Tancharoen revealed to Entertainment Weekly that "Whether or not that's just a coping mechanism or dental of all of the trauma that they've experienced, I think them being so functional will start to unravel."
