Apple's upcoming 2017 iPhone might be called iPhone 8. Although there are no announcements from Apple about the iPhone 8, there are many rumors and speculations spreading about it.
Many people say that the iPhone 8 will be a game changer for all the iPhone users. Aside from the rumors that the iPhone 8 will have a curved OLED display and an embedded home button, there are also speculations that the iPhone 8 will come with an iris scanning feature.
The KGI Securities predicted last March that the iPhone 8 will be having an iris-scanning feature for the 10th year anniversary of iPhone. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo stated that the iris scanning feature and other facial biometric technology will be added to the iPhone's list of new features.
According to a report from DigiTimes, Xintec, a Taiwanese company of biometric sensor maker, will start fulfilling iris scanning sensor orders from Apple as early as next year. The company Xintec is said to begin its mass production for the iris scanning chips in 2017. Doing this will boost the backend house's revenues for the year. However, company Xintec is not announcing anything about these rumored speculations.
Iris scanning feature isn't new for the mobile devices today. According to BGR, the new mobile phone of Samsung called Samsung Galaxy Note 7 already has this feature. This new feature will enhance the technology's security for mobile applications. Iris scanning can be used in conjunction with standard biometrics sensors, like fingerprint scanners, available in today's mobile devices.
The mobile applications like online payment, email logins, balance transfers and Internet purchases can benefit from the said technology. The iris scanning or iris recognition feature will also be used to unlock someone's mobile phone.
As of now, these are just mere rumors and speculations because the company Apple and Xintec didn't release any official announcements yet. Always stay tuned to GameNGuide for latest rumors, news and updates about the upcoming next generation smartphones of Apple.
