Never mind that "The Conjuring 3" has not been given the official greenlight by its studio yet. Even as the horrors brought by "The Conjuring 2" are still fresh on everyone's mind, fans of the horror genre are already excited about the direction the third movie could be heading.
And it appears that it's not only fans that are pretty excited about a third movie. In fact, director James Wan seems pretty excited himself as well and even revealed where he could be taking the upcoming "The Conjuring 3" in terms of storyline and plot.
But Will There Be A "The Conjuring 3?"
This is the 300 million dollar question. Specifically, "The Conjuring 2" film grossed a whopping $319.5 million globally. Since the decisions regarding sequels are generally based on how well the previous film performed financially, chances are "The Conjuring 3" will definitely get the go signal.
'The Conjuring 3' Could Have A Different Time Setting
Even director James Wan is already prepared for "The Conjuring 3" go at the horror franchise. In an interview with IGN, James Wan revealed that there is no shortage of materials for future sequels.
But the director already has something in mind for "The Conjuring 3." While he does not want to reveal too much, he offers that the upcoming movie would differ from its predecessors as far as the time setting is concerned. While both "The Conjuring" and "The Conjuring 2" are set in the 70s, Wan explains that "The Conjuring 3" could be set in the 80s.
A Different Material For 'The Conjuring 3'
But the time setting is not the only thing that will set the upcoming "The Conjuring 3" apart. In an interview with Cinema Blend, James Wan hints that the next installment could touch on a subject not covered in the previous films, that of werewolves.
"Maybe we can go and do it like a classic "American Werewolf in London" style, offers Wan. "The Conjuring 3" director could be referring to a case of demonic possession which happened back in 1983. According to Inquisitr, real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren took on a case of a man in London supposedly possessed by a supernatural entity which made him act like a werewolf.
