Contrary to popular rumors, it was another expansion pack for the Destiny franchise which premiered on Gamescom instead of a second instalment. Two years after its original release and after loads and loads of controversies, Destiny is releasing an expansion to its already successful game. While it does not look like a second instalment will be coming out anytime soon, "Destiny: Rise of Iron" should be able to bring in a brand new experience.
Lazy Gamer reports that "Destiny: Rise of Iron" will be the second time that an expansion has focused on The Fallen, after House of Wolves which was released in 2015. "Storywise, the Fallen fit" says senior designer Matt Findley when asked about what he has to say about the latest expansion to the Destiny franchise.
It is also reported that while Fallen have not been much of a threat in Destiny, they have been remixed to produce a devastating effect. This is when the Taken King amplified their danger level, thus creating variations who can destroy shields, hurl orbs at a player, and creating a lot of very different challenges. In this latest expansion, the Fallen get even stronger, specifically the House of Devils and their splicers who have been augmenting themselves, reports Metro
This leads to a more aggressive class of Fallen which is seen not just in how they behave, but in how they appear as well. They appear sharper and look more like a fusion of machine and Eliksini to creat a nemesis that is deadlier than ever seen before.
As a player will encounter several of them, they have been broken down in the report into Dreg Splicers, Vandal Splicers, and Servitor Splicers. Dreg Splicers run around fast on peg legs and are able to throw a SIVA grenade which is explodes into a cloud. If killed with a headshot, there is a chance that they will spawn a deathseeker which will chase whoever killed them.
Vandal Splicers are unique looking ones with large pyramids on them and have the Berserk ability like the Hive Knights. When they are low in health, they have a chance to regenerate and get very aggressive and run after a player. Servitor Splicers have a triple-tap shot instead of a single consistent shot that it used to do.
"Destiny: Rise of Iron" is set to be released on September 20, 2016. More news and updates are expected soon, so stay tuned to GameNGuide for more!
