The next game from the developers of L.A. Noire, Team Bondi - Whore of the Orient - is being targeted for a 2015 release.
This was made known through a job listing for a senior engine programmer, when the game title is scheduled to be in "full production" between 2013 and mid-2015. As for the listing for lead animator, the company notes that the game is an AAA "narrative action adventure title set in Shanghai in the 1930's similar in style to LA Noire & using facial MotionScan technology," IGN reported.
Earlier reports on the game Whore of the Orient were said to be for the next-generation consoles. The game follows Shanghai of 1936, "The most corrupt and decadent city on the planet, where anything can be had or done for the right price. Plaything of Western powers who greedily exploit the Chinese masses. Boiling pot of Chinese nationalism, with the Kuomintang ruthlessly trying to suppress Communism and the labour movement. Home to the International Police Force, a group of Western cops hopelessly trying to keep the lid on and keep the peace."
The game was described as "one of the great untold stories of the 20th Century" by Bendan McNamara, writer and director, Team Bondi, Nov. 9, 2011.
The team will be using the same MotionScan facial technology that was used in the L.A. Noire game and the interrogations of L.A. Noire.
L.A. Noire sold nearly 5 million units across all platforms as of February 2012, Eurogamer reported.
The assets of Team Bondi was liquidated and its doors closed after it released L.A. Noire. Kennedy-Miller Mitchell bought out most of Team Bondi's staff. Kennedy-Miller Mitchell is a film studio known for "Mad Max" and "Happy Feet".
