'Destiny 2' Rise of Iron DLC Release Date & Latest News: 'Wrath of the Machine' Will Be Collision-Themed; 'The Taken King' Designer Takes Lead Role

"Destiny 2: Rise of Iron" is currently under development and promised to provide several features and a new raid. Bungie recently shared some details about the "Destiny 2: Rise of Iron" DLC, as well as its upcoming raid, referred to as "Wrath of the Machine." Bungie confirmed that Luke Smith, director of "The Taken King" DLC, will helm the sequel.

According to Gavin Irby, lead raid designer at Bungie, Wrath of the Machine showcases the enemy type Fallen Devil Splicer. This will cap of the "Destiny 2: Rise of Iron" storyline that focuses on the Iron Lords and SIVA, the nanotech virus. Irby explained that when the raid design team begins planning a new raid, they set their sights on a theme that will affects everything within that activity. He continued that Wrath of the Machine will follow a collision theme.

They started with a lofty theme for "Destiny 2: Rise of Iron" DLC and then developed it into one full of action. GameRant noted Irby in saying that they begin with a number of literary and highfaluting ideas for "Destiny 2: Rise of Iron." Through some iterations, their concept transformed into smashing various elements. He added that there would be a collision between the Fallen faction and the SIVA.

They proceeded to introduce the smashing concept into the gameplay, which he reported, turned out very well. They wanted the next "Destiny 2: Rise of Iron" DLC to be purely about fun and letting gamers play up to the strengths of the game's sandbox. The "Destiny 2: Rise of Iron" DLC may be somewhat similar to Crota's End, a raid that features more action than the methodical approach incorporated in "King's Fall" and "Vault of Glass." Irby said that the "Destiny 2: Rise of Iron" DLC will be hard. He thought that the community might currently be prepared for something different. Their previous raids may allow them to overlevel and acquire some mastery.

VG247 reported that the "Destiny 2: Rise of Iron" DLC may compel gamers to increase their Light level immediately. There will expectedly be a lot of new gear and items to acquire that will help reach the new Light level cap of 385. "Destiny 2: Rise of Iron" will become available on Sept. 20, 2016 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
