By now, a lot of "Pokemon GO" players have mastered the art of searching for and capturing Pokemon, even the most elusive ones. But aside from trying to "catch 'em all," it's also important to know how to claim a gym through Pokemon Gym battles. These Gym battles enable players to battle it out with other Pokemon trainers.
According to IGN, a Gym would be up for grabs by any successful "Pokemon GO" trainer when its prestige level goes down to zero. Whoever claims the Pokemon Gym would then have to assign their Pokemon to guard the Gym and compete with others to restore the Gym's prestige level.
However, it's not all fun and games, as you may have experienced some errors when battling it out at "Pokemon GO" Gyms. Poketutorials reports that there are at least three reasons why these errors occur during the game. First of all, gamers are encouraged to keep within close proximity of the Gym. Straying too far will automatically disconnect you from the Gym, and the app will display an error that reads "This gym is too far away." Keep that in mind on your next Gym battle and make sure you're standing close to the Gym itself.
Another common "Pokemon GO" Gym error is when the application finds that you're battling a much more powerful Pokemon than you're supposed to be battling. Initially, trainers are expected to fight the Pokemon with the lowest CP. When the application finds that the trainer or player is fighting a Pokemon with a higher CP, it will display an error, which forces gamers to restart the game.
The solution to this "Pokemon GO" Gym error? Poketutorials recommends attacking contested Gyms if and only if they have zero open spaces. To find out if the particular Gym you want to battle in has open spaces, enter and exit the Gym a few times so that it is refreshed and you can see just how many open slots there are in the Gym.
There's another odd "Pokemon GO" Gym error that Niantic should look into. Apparently, they designed the game in a way that a Gym battle happens all at once, no matter how many players engage in a particular Gym. So whenever the Pokemon with the lowest CP gets defeated, it still appears in the Gym and does not get deleted in real time. If a player enters the Gym a little late and tries to battle the already defeated Pokemon, he'll receive an error because, as mentioned earlier, that Pokemon was already defeated by another player.
