‘Pokemon GO’ Gym Battle Guide, Tips & Tricks: How To Win Against Stronger Pokemon Gym Defender

Is it still possible to take on gyms guarded by stronger Pokemon? Apparently, that is a possibility and these "Pokemon GO" gym battle tips and guide might just be the clincher in winning the round.

'Pokemon GO' Gym Battle Update - Dodge Just Got Nerfed

There used to be simpler times when all people have to do to successfully take on a "Pokemon GO" gym full of strong Pokemon defenders was to successfully dodge all attacks. In those early days, a lot of players have reported of being able to take over gyms by using a relatively weaker Pokemon with the help of dodging.

But then dodging just got nerfed and has not been recently confirmed by "Pokemon GO" Game Press. Well, maybe not totally but players soon found out that dodging alone won't cut it anymore. Players who successfully dodged found out that their Pokemons will still have their HP reduced, although the damage is significantly lesser than that of a direct hit.

With this latest development, players realized that need for a different approach in attacking "Pokemon GO" gyms, especially those defended by strong Pokemon. Aside from using a stronger Pokemon in attacking, players need to learn how to attack intelligently.

'Pokemon GO' Gym Battle Tip, Guide - Choose Right Pokemon, Exploit Defending Pokemon' Weakness

In the post dodge era, players need to approach all game battles intelligently. For that, most "Pokemon GO" gym battles tips and guide would suggest that gamers need to exploit the weakness of each strong Pokemon defending a gym.

Perhaps, all "Pokemon GO" players have a rough idea that each type of Pokemon has its own set of strengths as well as weakness. For instance, the logical weakness of a fire type Pokemon would be water based attacks.

In fact, knowing and exploiting the weakness of a defending Pokemon is one of the most effective "Pokemon GO" gym battle tips. Fortunately, one does not need to experiment which Pokemon is effective against what. A Redditor has already compiled a detailed list of the possible Pokemon types to counter a specific Pokemon defending a gym.

The infographic compiled by Redditor conspire_pokemon_go details what types of Pokemon may be deployed to counter specific Pokemon defenders. For instance, a Poliwrath will be countered by Venusaur, Hypno, Slowbro, Exeggutor, Tangela, Victreebell or Vileplum while a Vaporeon defending a gym may be effectively countered by Venusaur, Exeggutor, Tangela, Parasect, Victreebell and Vileplum. Pokemon Clefable and Golem may be used against a Snorlax defending a "Pokemon GO" Gym.

Players who encounter a Lapras might want to deploy Omastar, Magneton, Arcanine, Rapidash, Poliwratch or Magmar. On the other hand, a strong Dragonite defending a "Pokemon GO" gym may be countered with Omaster, Jynx. Cloyster, Lapras, Dewgon, Golem, Wigglypuff, Gyarados or Clefable.

Strong Venusaur defending a "Pokemon GO" gym may be subdued using either Golbat, Pidgeotto, Venomoth, Arcanine, Charizard or Flareon. The same choice could be employed when facing a Victreebell or Vileplum as well.

When a "Pokemon GO" gym is defended by a strong Gyarados, players need to fight it with Jolteon, Raichu, Electrode, Magneton or Electabuzz. A strong Slowbro gym defender needs to be faught with Exeggutor, Parasect or Tangela while a gym defended by an Exeggutor Pokemon needs to be attacked with either Venomoth, Arcanine, Flareon, Scyther or Charizard.
