Back in June, Bethesda announced at E3 that “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim” would be getting a remastered version for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One. That version is set to come out in October.
As previously reported, “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim” remastered edition will bring certain improvements in the areas of display and support for game mods. But the kicker is whether the upcoming edition is worth shelling out $60.
PC versions get it for free
The $60 price tag only covers gamers who are playing “The Elder Scrolls V”: Skyrim” on the game consoles. PC users get a reprieve since they will get it for free. The reason behind this is that most of the features that “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim” remastered edition are already present in the original PC version. Hence the upgrade will not cost them a dime.
Game console players have to shell
Unfortunately, the case doesn’t hold true for the game console owners. This version notoriously carried performance issues, particularly for the PS3 and the Xbox 360.
For gamers who still play “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim” remastered edition on the older consoles, this could be a need though the price to pay for it may be a bit too much. From the looks of it, the selling point here is the mod support that “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim” remastered edition will offer though there will be limitations. The impact it will have on the newer consoles such as the PS4 and/or the Xbox One remains to be seen.
So with those on the table, would it be wise to look forward to the “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim” remastered edition? It may all depend on the gamer. With no word on “The Elder Scrolls VI”, this will be the game many will have to console themselves for now.
But would shelling out $60 for a five-year-old title be worth the investment? The answer to that will be known this Fall.
