Disney acquiring Lucasfilm has raised the hopes of Star Wars fans. The company had previously announced it would launch the next "Star Wars 7" movie. Harrison Ford is reportedly open to reprising his role as Han Solo. Reports have also suggested that Matthew Vaughn is in talks to direct the movie.
Though Ford has said he is open to the idea of reappearing as the character, he is not very fond of Solo.
In a 2010 interview to ABC, Ford said, "As a character he was not so interesting to me."
In "Star Wars 6: Return of the Jedi", Solo was scripted to die but his character was spared because the toys were selling well.
"I thought he should have died in the last one to give it some bottom...George didn't think there was any future in dead Han toys," said Ford, as reported by Collider.
Others stars who might re-join the cast are Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher.
Another rumor doing the rounds is that Lucasfilm is in talks with Matthew Vaughn ("Kick-Ass", "X-Men First Class") for directing "Star Wars: Episode 7".
Collider believes that one of the main reasons for Vaughn dropping out of the director's seat of the "X-Men" sequel was him being a possible candidate to make the Star Wars 7 movie.
Vaughn has been credited with rebooting the "X-Men" franchise.
Collider reports that Bob Iger, CEO Disney, Kathleen Kennay, president Lucasfilm and George Lucas met with writers recently for the new film.
Disney bought Lucasfilm last week for $4.05 billion.
"Star Wars: Episode 7" is targeted for a 2015 release.
