It has been confirmed after earlier rumors sugested that Bryan Singer who had directed the earlier version of X-Men franchise, "X-Men" and "X2" will be taking over the direction of "X-Men: Days of Future Past."
Deadline reported that Singer had sealed a deal returning to direct the movie. His experience of handling two of the earlier "X-Men" movies will be an added assest reports suggested.
Singer directed the critical hit "The Usual Suspects" and the Tom Cruise starer "Valkyrie" movies. Singer's new movie "Jack The Giant Slayer " will release March 1.
Matthew Vaughn who was to direct "X-Men: Days of Future Past" has bowed out of direction of the film but instead will be the producer for the movie.
"In the comic books, the 'Days of Future Past' series alternates between two time lines and sees the X-Men fight Mystique's Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, and a future timeline caused by the X-Men's failure to prevent the Brotherhood from assassinating Senator Robert Kelly. In this future universe, Sentinels rule the United States, and mutants live in internment camps. The present-day X-Men are forewarned of the possible future by a future version of their teammate Kitty Pryde (played by Ellen Page in 'X-Men: Last Stand'), whose mind travelled back in time and possessed her younger self to warn the X-Men. She succeeds in her mission and returns to the future, but despite her success, the future timeline still exists as an alternative timeline rather than as the actual future. (The Official Handbook to the Marvel Universe: Alternate Universes 2005 gave the numerical designation of 'Days of Future Past' Earth as Earth-811)," Indiewire reported.
James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence might reprise their roles from the previous "X-Men" franchise.
Simon Kinberg and Lauren Shuler Donner are the screenwriters for the movie.
"X-Men: Days of Future Past" is scheduled for July 18, 2014 release.
