Sony has revealed that their PS4 Update 4.00 is set to be rolled out soon, a patch filled with improvements. The first people who can get a glimpse of the said enhancements are the ones enrolled in the public beta program for “Shingen”.
With that said, the people under the public beta program should monitor their inboxes with Sony expected to shoot out emails on how to download the patch. Though it is the beta version, it could very well dictate the changes forthcoming. What exactly do PS4 game console owners need to expect?
Better User Interface Refresh
First up is the PS4 UI which may require players to get use to. According to the official Sony Playstation blog, the main user interface will see new backgrounds and new popup notifications.
The Quick Menu has been improved as well, something that players can easily call by holding the PS button on their dual shock controllers. The improvement is that it now only covers a portion of the screen that addresses the previous need of gamers to leave the game they are playing.
Better Organization
One of the more requested changes from PS4 users is a better folders and library organization. The PS4 update 4.00 will bring in added functionality that will allow users to create folders where specific (favorite) apps and/or games can be stored.
New tabs will also be added to properly situate games, applications and other content. Among the tabs to expect include the “Purchase” and “Game and Applications” that should account for better interface and organization when needed.
Trophies in Offline mode
Connections can be unstable and for some PS4 users, this means being unable to see certain content. Trophies are one of them but the upcoming patch now allows users to view them even when offline. The user profile page has also been improved, reorganized to allow users to see important information right away. Again, the patch covers only the beta program meaning there are expected to be more when the final version is ready for release.
