Blizzard Entertainment is introducing some tweaks to "Overwatch" that will make it faster on Windows PC. The game developer announced that it will update "Overwatch" to support high bandwidth across all modes.
Previously, "Overwatch" players have been complaining about the game speed. Many players provided negative feedback about the low refresh rate in "Overwatch," where they usually mess up plays or get killed due to the game client's failure to cope. Other players were able to manage, although there were many who resorted to social media to ask Blizzard to find a solution immediately.
The new update is expected to offer a faster game experience to all Windows PC players. A community manager stated that in "Overwatch," the high bandwidth option will adjust the client update rate of the game. the client update rate is the frequency rate which the client receives updates from the game server. The new change will boost it from 21 to 63 updates per second, which will ultimately lower the total time between completing an action and the client getting feedback regarding the result. "Overwatch" will feel more responsive.
Polygon noted that the "Overwatch" player's internet speed will matter in determining whether the servers can operate at the maximum 63 updates per second. The new update will gauge the speed at which the client refreshes according to the internet speed. "Overwatch" players can also find an option to fix the rate manually via a later patch.
PlayStation Lifestyle revealed that Geoff Goodman, principal designer of "Overwatch," is also considering nerfing Zenyatta in an upcoming patch. He is also thinking of tweaking Mei and Mercy. He noted how Zenyatta is playing much better lately and just might be too strong based on feedback and internal stats. The character's power may be reduced, particularly his Discord Orb. Goodman also stated that Mei's ultimate can be somewhat unwieldy and inconsistent compared to other similar ultimates. They are currently testing whether it would be ideal to allow her ultimate projectile to pierce barriers and have its radius increased.
Beginning Aug. 12, 2016, PC gamers will get the higher bandwidth capability. The "Overwatch" update rollout may take a few weeks, while Xbox One and PlayStation 4 players may need to wait longer, since Blizzard is still checking whether it can also provide the option to gaming consoles.
