It's been a little over a month since most people have finally gotten their hands on "Pokemon Go," and that's enough time to start getting most of the 100 or so Generation 1 Pokemon that's available in the game. The biggest question on everyone's minds now, then, is when developer Niantic Labs is putting out the next generation of Pokemon.
Rumors are now abound that the next or so "Pokemon Go" update is bringing the next generation of Pokemon to the game for all to catch. The Generation 2 Pokemon include evolutions of Generation 1 Pokemon (both pre-evolutions and new stages) so players will have to stock up on some candy and catch some Pokemon to have an easier time getting the new Pokemon.
Pokemon Go Informer rounds up the Generation 2 Pokemon you'll need to save up for when "Pokemon Go" finally gets updated. There are 12 Generation 1 offshoots to watch out for, and they are:
Bellossom and Politoed: These two final-stage evolutions of Oddish and Poliwag, respectively, present an interesting challenge for "Pokemon Go": since they're alternate evolutions in the main games, like Eevee, they're probably not going to be straightforward options for your Gloom and Poliwhirl. It's likely that the evolution you get after feeding the specific Pokemon 100 candies is determined by chance, but we'll see.
Crobat: The common Zubat in "Pokemon Go" has a purpose—so you can save up all your candies to make your Golbat a Crobat.
Slowking: Slowking is also similar to Bellossom and Politoed, only that he's just a second evolution instead of a third. It's also likely that getting a Slowking will be a matter of chance in "Pokemon Go."
Steelix: This badass Onix evolution is going to take a lot of Onix candies, so best to save them up now and not use them all up in powering your Onix.
Tyrogue and Hitmontop: For those who aren't familiar with Generation 2 and beyond, Tyrogue was a baby Pokemon added to the game, a pre-evolution form of Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan. It's likely that all the Hitmonlee/Hitmonchan candies in "Pokemon Go" will become Tyrogue candies and Tyrogue will become more common. That said, when it's time to evolve your Tyrogue, it's likely that getting a Hitmonlee, Hitmonchan, and Hitmontop will, once again, be a matter of chance.
Blissey: Chansey is hard enough to find in "Pokemon Go," so save up your Chansey candies when you get them to easily evolve one into Blissey.
Kingdra: The final form of Horsea is expected to require 100 Horsea candies to get.
Scizor: Meanwhile, you'll probably just need 50 Scyther candies to get a Scizor, but Scyther are rare enough in "Pokemon Go."
Espeon and Umbreon: Like with all the Eevee evolutions in "Pokemon Go," these two options will be added to the random choices you get when evolving an Eevee. Hopefully there's a way to force your Eevee to evolve into Espeon or Umbreon by giving it a specific nickname.
Porygon2: Generation 2 will add the second evolution of Porygon, Porgyon2. When you do get one, though, best to save up your Porygon candies for a long, long time so you can easily get a Porygon-Z when Niantic adds Generation 4 to "Pokemon Go."
There's no news yet on when Niantic is releasing the Generation 2 update, but you can be sure that we'll be giving you updates as soon as we get them.
