‘Pokemon GO’ Latest News & Update: Nearby Feature Removed, ‘Pokemon GO’ Sightings Introduced, But Is It Better?

Here is the good news to all "Pokemon GO" gamers have been waiting for. Niantic finally replaced the "Pokemon GO" Nearby tracker feature with something even better: the all-new "Pokemon GO" Sightings feature.

For weeks, following the previous update, "Pokemon GO" users have been complaining that the game is hardly playable. While Niantic did explain why it decided to remove the broken "Pokemon GO" Nearby feature that is also known as the 3 step tracker, catching a Pokemon in the wild is just a lot more difficult without some sort of guide.

But, Niantic has been all too aware of this particular need from players and was very busy the past days coming up with a solution. With the latest, Niantic is not introducing a new feature called "Pokemon GO" Sightings, something that the company says will replace the removed "Pokemon GO" Nearby feature.

So, how does the new Sightings feature compare with the old "Pokemon GO" Nearby feature? Apparently, it works and it works a lot better than its predecessor, reports Forbes.

For instance, unlike the old "Pokemon GO" Nearby, the new Sightings feature is more accurate. The new feature now gives a list of Pokemon within a player's vicinity which makes it easy for one to spot the specific type of Pokemon that one wants to get next.

The new Sightings feature also differs significantly from the old "Pokemon GO" Nearby feature in one area - the number of sighted or detected Pokemon. An explanation for this is that the new feature could be more accurate this time. For those who tested it, if the Sighting feature says a Pokemon is there, it really is there. The same could not be said for the old "Pokemon GO" Nearby feature though.

The new "Pokemon GO" Sighting feature refreshes the list in 10 second intervals. That means that new Pokemon that have spawned and those that have despawned gets reflected every 10 seconds as well, creating a more reliable list.

The good thing is, while the Niantic post in the "Pokemon GO" website mentioned that the new Sightings feature is only available to the select few, it seemed that they decided in the end to actually release it to everyone. Go try it now and post your experiences in the comments section below. Follow Game & Guide and be updated on the latest "Pokemon GO" news and updates.
