Looks like there are conflicting reports on just when exactly Sony is finally going to unveil the PlayStation 4 Neo to the world.
TechRadar collects the different reports that have come out since June. According to the Wall Street Journal, the PS4 Neo was going to be released by Sony in this year's Tokyo Game Show in mid-September. Those reports were unverified, however.
However, gaming site Gameblog broke out the news today that Sony is looking at a September 7 reveal in New York. While the news coming from a French game site seems quite unusual and obscure, the report was vetted by VICE Gaming, who apparently heard it from their insider sources at Sony.
It's highly likely that there may be some truth to both reports. It's possible that the Tokyo Game Show news would obviously be a reveal for the Japanese and other Asian press outlets, while the New York reveal would be for the Western press. Take these rumors with a grain of salt, however, as nobody even close to Sony has officially confirmed them.
Although Microsoft has been more than forthcoming about what their Xbox Scorpio will have in store for gamers when it comes out later this year, Sony has been very tight-lipped about what the PS4 Neo is capable of. All we've heard are some small pieces of information regarding its rumored specifications. There's apparently going to be some VR and 4K video capability, but that's a given for any next-gen consoles at this point.
Other details are scarce about this decade's upcoming console wars. Nintendo is waiting until late first quarter next year to reveal their heavily-hyped Nintendo NX, and Sony and Microsoft would still have the upper hand on it when it comes to momentum. However, that might mean that Nintendo is working on a big surprise that would blow us away.
