Xbox One News and Update: Microsoft Drops Price of Console Up to 50% Off; Where to Get the Summer Xbox Deals

Xbox One has been put up on sale by Microsoft. Aside from the price cut of up to 50 percent, buyers can also get free games that were bundled with the units.

On July 24, Microsoft posted a "Summer sale" announcement for its Xbox One units. The tech company is offering the console for only $249 and this unit features 500 GB hard drive, plus the buyer can choose from a list of games to come as a freebie. The game choices include the "Gears of War" Ultimate Edition, "Forza Motorsport 6," "Rise of the Tomb Raider," "Quantum Break" and the "Rare Replay."

This model for sale was previously being sold at $299 but the ads were saying the discount is 50 percent because they based the price difference from the unit's original price when it was first released. The special summer deal for Xbox One will run until supplies last, thus it would be advantageous to buy now.

With the price drop, many were speculating that Microsoft was trying to sell as many Xbox One as they can because the release of the newest and better Xbox One S is almost here. Likewise, observers say that the timing of the sale was just suspicious since it appears that Microsoft is finding a way to clear out thousands of older units to make way for the redesigned version.

Meanwhile, a slimmer Xbox One S is coming this Aug. 2, as announced during the E3 gaming expo last month. The new console boasts of 4K Ultra HD video and gaming support. It will be released for the price of $349 for 1TB and $299 for 500 GB units. The 2TB limited edition will retail for the highest price of $399.

In addition to Xbox's website, gamers can take advantage of the sale by visiting online stores like Amazon and Gamestop.
