During Microsoft's "Gears of War 4" presentation at E3 in June 2016, fans were excited to see the return of a well-loved character. At the end of the "Gears of War 4" demo, Marcus Fenix, who now sports a beard and looks much older, was spotted.
Before "Gears of War 4," Marcus Fenix was the hero of the original Gears of War trilogy. In the upcoming game, he is the father of the new main protagonist, JD. "Gears of War 4" can be played at the Xbox booth at San Diego Comic-Con at the end of July 2016.
Entertainment Weekly also provided an initial video of the Gears of War 4 gameplay. The seven-minute clip showed the upcoming Gears of War 4 game set 25 years after the conclusion of the trilogy.
In "Gears of War 4," Marcus will work with his son JD and companions Kait and Del to rescue Kait's mother, Reyna, from a new kind of enemies, called the Swarm, over 24 hours.
Creative director of game developer Coalition Chuck Osieja stated that "Gears of War 4" is both a continuation of the legacy, as well as a new beginning for the franchise.
Marcus will still play a significant role in the "Gears of War 4" story. He stands for a key component in unraveling who JD Fenix is as a character, which is also why he is motivated to work with his son and accomplish the mission.
Marcus in the "Gears of War 4" game will again be voiced by John DiMaggio. He will be a playable character in versus multiplayer and the wave-based Horde mode.
Gematsu stated that Microsoft also featured a trailer of its new "Gears of War 4" Limited Edition 2TB Xbox One S Bundle. The special console will become available together with the game on October 11, priced at $449.
The package includes a crimson red Xbox One unit with a "Gears of War 4" theme. It will also have a Crimson Omen limited edition Xbox Wireless controller and a download code for the title on both Xbox One and Windows 10 PC.
"Gears of War 4" is set to release worldwide on Oct. 11, 2016 on Xbox Play Anywhere, allowing gamers to play on both Xbox One and Windows 10 PC at no extra cost. The "Gears of War 4" game will be the first in the series to support cross-platform multiplayer.
