The Greg Berlanti-produced "Supergirl" has made waves when it debuted on CBS back in October.
The show, which stars Melissa Benoist as the titular character, and subsequently Kara Zor-El A.K.A. Kara Danvers, has garnered a huge following and an even bigger audience, especially when Berlanti and co. used their crossover formula to bring more "The Flash" fans to watch "Supergirl," and vice versa. But what lies ahead for "Supergirl" season 2?
First of all, it was announced that "Supergirl" season 2 will now air on The CW, the network that is home to "The Flash." The Saturn Award-nominated series has also announced additions to its sophomore season cast, including the original Wonder Woman herself, Lynda Carter, who will play the President of the United States in the upcoming season. Carter isn't the only newbie to come aboard, as Tyler Hoechlin is also joining the ranks of superheroes on The CW show, as he will be playing the Man of Steel himself.
Hoechlin told Collider, "I’m really looking forward to be putting our own spin on it, seeing where this character fits into this storyline, and this version of Superman...I take it with great respect for the character and hat it means to people so I’m excited to get to work on it and see what comes out of it."
Meanwhile, Entertainment Weekly reports that "Cougar Town" alum Ian Gomez will also be heading to "Supergirl" season 2 as Snapper Carr, the new editor-in-chief of CatCo Magazine. Gomez's role will be a recurring one, which begs the question, how true are the rumors that Calista Flockhart, who plays Cat Grant, will not be featured frequently as she was back in season 1?
According to Zap2It, the show's move to The CW meant that filming will be relocated to Canada, something that Flockhart may be hesitant about. It seems that fans will have to wait for "Supergirl" season 2 to find out what will become of Cat Grant, now that Snapper Carr will be in the picture.
"Supergirl" debuts on The CW come Monday, October 10 at 8 p.m.
