'The Walking Dead' Season 7 Air Date, Spoilers, News & Update: Will Maggie Suffer The Same Fate As Andrea?

Over the years, "The Walking Dead" has never run out of season finale cliffhangers to keep viewers on edge.

There was Glenn's (Steven Yeun) near death, which was very Jon Snow-ish with the is-he-or-isn't-he-really-dead discussions following the episode in which he supposedly got trapped and eaten by the zombies last October. The show seems to never run out of shocking surprises, as it ended its sixth season last April with yet another death.

"The Walking Dead" season 7 will pick up right where the show left off last spring, following Negan's (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) execution of a yet-unknown character. In the comics, Glenn was at the receiving end of the barb-wired-bat, but some have been commenting that it actually might be Maggie (Lauren Cohan) who received the blow.

According to TV Guide, it would make no sense whatsoever to save Glenn from the zombies, only to have him die in the hands of Negan. Having Maggie fall victim to the villain, however, would make things interesting, and even more painful, given that she is with child. Evidence shows that Cohan hasn't been on set as often as the other stars to film "The Walking Dead" season 7, so that might mean her stint on the show may be cut short. Viewers can remember that as of the season finale, she had been experiencing complications with her pregnancy, so dying from that could be another way for her character to exit the show.

Meanwhile, Laurie Holden, who played Andrea during the show's first season, recently opened up about the what could have been of her character if she had not met her untimely death back in season 3. According to Comic Book Resources, the 46-year old actress was supposed to play the character til the show ended. However, former showrunner Frank Darabont told her that they were killing off Andrea instead, and that was the version of events that made it on air. Nonetheless, Holden has no hard feelings on the death of Andrea.

"I think 'The Walking Dead' is in a really good place now with Scott Gimple," It wasn't the ship that it is now. I'm very grateful how it was written that I went out with grace and with a stellar cast. It wasn't the way that I wanted, but I loved the way I went out.

"The Walking Dead" season 7 premieres on AMC this October.
