UFC 200 Recap & Results: Brock Lesnar, Amanda Nunes Pull Out Surprise Wins

UFC 200 is over and done with and the pay-per-view was spectacular as expected. The results are out but the two biggest surprises of the night involved Amanda Nunes and Brock Lesnar.

Nunes becomes first Brazilian woman to win a UFC title

Miesha Tate had been pondering on what to do next after UFC 200 but needed to take down Amanda Nunes first before thinking ahead. Like the plight of previous UFC bantamweight women’s champions, Tate fell per Sky Sports.

For the third time this year, the UFC women’s bantamweight division saw the title change hands following a rear-naked choke by the Brazilian over “Cupcake”. Tate tried to apply the same ploy she did against Holly Holm but Nunes proved slippery to handle.

Nunes was aware of the game plan of Tate, that of which was to ground the wily Nunes. But hard strikes eventually took its toll on the former champion, resulting in the tap out right in the first round according to Forbes.

Brock Lesnar still has it

Brock Lesnar has spent a lot of recent years in the WWE and his return to the Octagon was seen as risky. Not many were confident that “The Beast Incarnate” still had it but Lesnar proved everyone wrong.

Lesnar executed his game plan to near perfection, pulling out an impressive win over Mark Hunt. With the win, the question on whether the 38-year-old would return is in the air. The answer to that remains to be seen as he heads back to WWE.

Lesnar is set to face Randy Orton at WWE SummerSlam 2016 which takes place on August 21.

Aldo, Cormier and Pena triumph

Jose Aldo proved to one and all that an embarrassing 13-second knockout at the hands of Conor McGregor is something that will not keep him down. He had an impressive outing against Frankie Edgar and may have likely booked a date with “The Notorious” for the UFC flyweight belt next.

Daniel Cormier expectedly had an easy time with Anderson Silva seeing that it was pretty short notice. Cormier hacked out an easy win over “The Spider” as he moves forward with Jones likely getting a hefty suspension in yet another drug-related issue.

Julianna Pena gave Cat Zingano a rude welcome by hacking out a decision win. It was Pena’s fourth straight win and a big step towards a possible title shot per Fox Sports.
