‘Attack on Titan’ Season 2 Release, News & Updates: Season 2 Final Release Date Set To Spring 2017

"Attack on Titan" Season 2 is now confirmed to air on spring 2017, and the news comes after "Attack on Titan's" creators confirmed its premiere through their official Twitter account.

According to Crunchyroll, the casts of the show gathered at the Tokyo International Forum where the good news was unveiled. Since "Attack on Titan" Season 2 is soon to see the light of day, there will be a slight change in the show's staff, as Masashi Koizuka has been promoted to be "Attack on Titan" Season 2's director while its new chief director is Tetsuro Araki.

Tetsuro, along with three voice actors, told reporters in late 2014 that the initial decision was to air Season 2 this year; however, the decision was changed to 2017. There were earlier rumors explaining that the creators wanted to finish enough manga stories that will form the basis for "Attack on Titan" Season 2, but this has never been officially confirmed.

"Attack on Titan" Season 1 was first aired in Japan in 2013, and it was subsequently released in the United States and other countries in 2014. Aside for the anime series, "Attack on Titan," which was initially started on Manga or Japanese comics, released a two-part movie in Japan and other countries in 2015 but received negative feedback due to the changes the movie made to "Shingeki No Kyojin" manga.

Aside from movies, video games have also been developed based on "Attack on Titan," as Omega Force is developing an upcoming game that will make use of the 3D maneuver gears used in "Attack on Titan" Season 1. The game's storyline is also said to be based on "Attack on Titan" Season 1.

"Attack on Titan" is set on post-apocalyptic world, as human survivors have been forced to hide in massive walls as protection against humanoid giants, known only as Titans. The story centers on the three protagonists Eren Yeager (Yuki Kaji), Mikasa Ackerman (Yui Ishikawa) and Armin Arlert (Marina Inoue). "Attack on Titan" generated quite an interest because of its controversial theme of giants devouring human beings.
