A Russian Leonardo DiCaprio look-alike grabbed the opportunity on his newfound fame by starring in a TV advertisement for a local vodka brand.
Vanity Fair reported that in February 2016, images of Roman Burtsev, a 33-year-old Russian security guard, started to circulate on the internet for his striking resemblance to "The Revenant" star.
It also helped that Leonardo DiCaprio was also getting close to grabbing his Best Actor award at the Oscars.
The Hollywood Reporter stated that Pyat Ozer (Five Lakes) Vodka recently came up with a commercial starring the RUssian Leonardo DiCaprio look-alike.
The beginning of the ad featured Burtsev staring at himself in a luxury car and staring at his reflection on the rearview mirror.
A photo of the real Leo was also positioned on the mirror. The camera then zooms out, revealing that the model was wearing a cheap tracksuit over his big tummy and sitting next to a woman who apparently went through the plastic surgeon several times.
The next shot showed the exterior of the vehicle running on the road, and a real BMW SUV moving beside it, emphasizing that the former was also a fake.
The vehicle stopped by a grassy area where Burtsev picked up a blue bottle of Pyat Ozer vodka. Yahoo noted the narrator in saying that everything in the ad is fake.
The voiceover said that the Russian Leonardo DiCaprio was fake, driving a fake BMW with his fake model girlfriend and talking on a fake iPhone. The ad stated that people will one day realize that everything in their life is also fake.
Only Pyat Ozer vodka is authentic and cannot be faked. Burtsev proceeded to dump his car, girl and phone and disappeared in the wilderness in a rowboat, similar to Leo's character in "The Revenant."
Aside from the new commercial, the Russian Leonardo DiCaprio also did a number of parodies of the actor's past films like "Titanic" and "The Revenant," which quickly gained popularity among social media users.
However, it was surprising that the Russian Leonardo DiCaprio was not a fan of the celebrity himself. He was not amazed that the actor has an Oscar, referring to the trophy as a useless piece of metal.
According to Burtsev, Leo does not have family, which he considers as the most important thing. Leo, on the other hand, has not commented on the rising star.
