Back in November, fans were delighted to learn that Jeffrey Dean Morgan has been cast to play the villainous, bat-yielding Negan in AMC's widely followed series "The Walking Dead." It seems that Morgan's Negan is here to stay, as the actor, along with three other new additions to the cast have been promoted to series regulars.
The Hollywood Reporter exclusively reveals that season 7 of "The Walking Dead" will see Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Tom Payne, Austin Amelio and Xander Berkeley as series regulars, meaning they're definitely staying to spark more interesting storylines for Rick and his crew. Fans may remember Payne as Paul "Jesus" Rovia, the scout for the Hilltop Colony, which is led by Berkeley's Gregory. Amelio played Dwight, Daryl's newest rival and former member of the Saviors. All of the actors were formerly playing recurring actors, but come season 7, all of them will be series regulars.
While the new additions may come as a surprise, "The Walking Dead" actually recently removed two series regulars and two recurring roles, including Tovah Feldshuh, who played Deanna Monroe, Alexandra Breckenridge as Alexandria Safe-Zone, who fell to her death via the walkers, and Merritt Wever's Denise and Michael Traynor's Nicholas, who fans last saw in season 6.
Speaking of season 6, "The Walking Dead" seems to have a "Game of Thrones" Jon Snow is-he-dead-or-is-he-not situation with Ross Marquand's Aaron. In fact, even the actor does not know the fate of his character. One thing's for sure, however, he said that season 7 will be "all about expanding the world of the communities."
"I think they’re going to be really excited when they come back and see that premiere episode for season 7. It’s brutal, it’s insane, but I think it is going to be exactly what the fans are looking for," Marquand told Entertainment Weekly.
"The Walking Dead" will return to AMC this fall, and fans can get season 6 on DVD and Blu-ray beginning August 23.
