“Red Dead Redemption” is one of the more popular games in the market and thanks to the Xbox One backwards compatibility program, sales have now rocked off the charts.
“Red Dead Redemption” and the “Red Dead Redemption” Game of the Year edition have been a huge hit since being included in the backwards compatibility program, noting a huge 6,329% increase in sales per Amazon’s Movers & Shakers list.
The milestone allowed the “Red Dead Redemption” franchise to make it to the 17th most popular video game on the site, a big jump from its previous rank which was 1093.
The Game of the Year edition of “Red Dead Redemption” also moved up considerably in the charts. The special edition saw a huge 1,877% increase that allowed it to occupy the 36th spot. It was previously at 712.
While the rankings are something to marvel at, they do not necessarily indicate that the physical game sales are moving. Such was explained by analyst ZhugeEX.
@KyleOrl There is one thing people never understand about amazon.
The percentage is NOT sales increase.
Let me explain.

Game Spot notes that by jumping up more than 1,000 spots, Red Dead Redemption saw a 6,000%-plus increase in the sales rankings on Amazon and not a 6,000% increase in unit sales.
As far as playing Red Dead Redemption on the Xbox One, all that starts on July 8. Games who have yet to secure a copy can do so right now. The game is currently on sale for $10.50 though gold members can get it for a cheaper price of $7.50.
To date, only two other games have had more votes on the Xbox One backwards compatibility program. They are “Call of Duty: Black Ops II” and “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim”. Red Dead Redemption is ranked 3rd in the list.
Regardless if it was sales-related or not, the fact is that the Red Dead Redemption franchise continues its march as one of the best game titles to try out.
