'Star Wars Rebels' Season 3 Will Be Dropping Hints About Future Films; More Crossovers Coming

"Star Wars Rebels" Season 3 will be featuring some details about future films in the Star Wars franchise. Simon Kinberg, executive producer of the show, teased that there will be more crossovers between "Star Wars Rebels" and other content in the Star Wars saga.

During an interview with Moviefone, Kinberg said that the universe, which is currently being built, is interconnected between the various movies and even beyond the films.

He explained that the concept was true in comic books and how there were interconnections between stories and characters.

Kinberg mentioned that he appreciates how the stories are told in a bigger tapestry. His statements hinted that the upcoming third season of "Star Wars Rebels" will give details about upcoming films and that crossover projects may be prepared soon.

Fansided noted that several characters from the original series and movies will probably return in new shows and films, such as how Captain Rex, Ahsoka Tano, Saw Gerrera and Hondo Ohnaka, among others, will be featured in new projects.

Kinberg said that it was good to bring back characters and deepen the relationships among their core characters. They were trying to balance the original cast from "Clone Wars" with the ones in the original films and also attempt to feature more content for future movies.

More characters from the saga are expected to have cameo roles in "Star Wars Rebels" Season 3. Cinema Blend wrote that "Rogue One" is set only a few years after "Star Wars Rebels."

This means that there may be enough time to introduce a few characters in the show, who will also eventually appear in the new movie.

Some elements in "Rogue One' and the Han Solo movie in 2018 may be featured in the third season, which premieres later in 2016.

The franchise previously introduced some characters in animation before showing their movie form, such as Boba Fett and Saw Gerrara, who will be played by Foreest Whitaker soon.

Not a lot of details about a crossover project are available in the meantime, but Kinberg's statements provide the possibility that the shows and movies may eventually be synchronized to streamline the story more, as well as allow various characters to have more meaningful connections.

Overall, linking with upcoming movies is a strategic move for the show.

More updates on "Star Wars Rebels" Season 3 are expected soon. The standalone Star Wars film will launch on Dec. 16, 2016.
