This year's Worldwide Developers Council came and went without even the tiniest whimper on this year's MacBook Pro 2016 release. However, rumors about the inevitable new model have been starting to come in ever since.
Aside from a possible launch soon (due to the Apple ridding its store of the old non-Retina MacBook models, last released in 2012), the latest word is claiming that the company is removing the 3.5mm headphone jack from the upcoming MacBook Pro 2016.
Mac World UK reports that this may be the reason behind the delay in the MacBook's announcement. If the rumor is indeed true, then the MacBook Pro 2016 would only be following Apple's curious new trend of removing the ability to plug in standard earphones from its devices.
Meanwhile, like the MacBook Pro 2016, iPhone 7 is also rumored to be losing the headphone port, with both devices getting Lightning ports instead of the jack and possibly a new set of compatible EarPods that go with it. The speculation goes that the two devices may be revealed at the same time, explaining why neither was in WWDC this year.
Other than this possible change, among the other rumored new features for the MacBook Pro 2016 include a lighter body, a new graphics card, possible 4G cellular internet connectivity, a keyboard with no physical keys (being a touchscreen with keys providing tactile feedback) and an OLED touch bar that's just right above the keyboard (which seems to be confirmed by another leaked photo of the MacBook's chassis and leaks of the software code).
The MacBook Pro 2016 is also rumored to be going for around $1399 to $2699, depending on the model, based on the prices of the models currently in the market. The higher end will most likely be for the fastest 15-inch model. We'll definitely report on more rumors as we get them closer to an official announcement.
