A lot of fans were upset that Steve Rogers/Captain America yelled "Hail Hydra" in the new comics. It was found that the great American superhero had been undercover as the enemy all along.
However, the big shift is actually all part of the All-New, All-Different Marvel, particularly the unique adventures of Steve Rogers and the huge adjustment to his history that will have significant effects on the Marvel Universe.
Aside from having a new shield, Rogers was featured as a secret Hydra Agent the whole time.
ComicBook.com exclusively revealed that in "Captain America: Steve Rogers #1," the character returned to his role as Captain America, and was revealed to be a Hydra sleeper agent since he was a young boy.
However, things are not actually how Rogers remembers.
In the second issue, written by Nick Spencer and drawn by Jesus Saiz, Roger's memories turned out to be implanted by Kobik, the Cosmic Cube that turned into a girl. Kobik was also under the control of the main villain, the Red Skull.
According to Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso, he was initially skeptical about the new Captain America story that Nick came up with, but eventually gave in.
He continued that they expected a strong reaction from fans in the big plot twist, although the feedback was so intense and comparable to the death of Captain America.
He thought that those who reacted most violently are those who do not frequent comic book stores. That is, people who are not used to the potential adjustments that they can put on the various characters.
Alonso said that in "Captain America: Steve Rogers #2," one of the most trusted superheroes in the Marvel Universe is not exactly who most people think.
He is working with a sinister plan so every interaction he has will be affected by it and impact the entire Marvel Universe.
The editor-in-chief said that issue No. 2 of "Captain America" will be challenging to read. They will slowly unravel what the Red Skull has been doing in the interim period.
The character in blue, red and white will be taking on different themes and problems compared to other superheroes. The book will also delve into history and politics as it progresses.
Readers of Captain America will explore the experiences of a deep-cover operative, specifically involving the most trusted superhero in the universe who actually functions with an ulterior motive.
The storyline of "Captain America: Steve Rogers" will be entirely new and feature some great characters. It will go on sale on June 29, 2016.
