Everybody would agree that nobody can portray Tony Stark a.k.a. Iron Man better than Robert Downey Jr. So when the 51-year-old actor showed loss of interest in reprising his iconic role, many were worried that Marvel will either replace Robert Downey Jr. or just make Iron Man disappear.
Tony Stark is an already interesting character, his superhero alter ego, Iron Man, made him even better. But, the best thing about Tony Stark / Iron Man is that he is portrayed by an amazing actor.
Robert Downey Jr. is such a great actor that he can convince you to either love or hate his character. Although Tony Stark's personality is sometimes hard to like, but Robert Downey Jr. knows exactly how to sweep us off out feet and still choose Iron Man as our favorite Avenger.
So for Robert Downey Jr. to even think of dropping his Iron Man role is such a hard pill to swallow.
'Iron Man 4' will not be the same without Robert Downey Jr.
If Robert Downey Jr. will not return as Tony Stark in "Iron Man 4," it is understandable that fans would rather not see the fourth installment than to have another actor play the role.
But after all the whispers and speculations of him not wanting to be Iron Man anymore, Robert Downey Jr. shared he is still willing to return as Tony Stark in "Iron Man 4" while he was promoting "Captain America: Civil War" on Nightline in April.
"I feel like I can do one more," Robert Downey Jr. said as he stared straight at the camera, making it even more intense on how willing and dedicated he is to his "Iron Man 4" role.
Robert Downey Jr. confirms 'Iron Man 4' is definitely happening
Back in 2014, Robert Downey Jr. himself confirmed that "Iron Man 4" is definitely happening during his guest appearance at the Ellen DeGeneres show.
When Ellen DeGeneres asked him if there will be an "Iron Man 4," Robert Downey Jr. didn't beat around the bush and firlmy said "yes!"
