Since Facebook's inception in 2006, the social media platform has been breaking ground to introduce new functions and features to make the experience of using it more unique to the user. From the "On this Day" tool to 360-degree video and photographs, Mark Zuckerberg's brainchild remains to be at the top of its game. Now, Facebook is offering another feature that will make sharing photos and videos even more fun.
TechCrunch reports that the social platform is enabling its users to create fun videos on the go via their very own movie maker called Facebook Slideshow. The new feature checks if the user has taken at least five or more photographs or videos in the last 24 hours and asks if the user would like to create a Slideshow, which is a combination of pictures or videos, together with themed musical transitions. Users can edit the collection of photos and choose from an array of themes such as Playful, Night Out, Birthday, Epic, Thankful, Tropical, Bollywood, Amped, or Nostalgic (#tbt, anyone?).
According to CNet, Facebook Slideshow is a part of the social platform's Moments photo-sharing app and those who use Facebook on Apple iPhones and iPads can now try it. Users can also try it as they view other people's Slideshow on the news feed.
"We all know that people love to snap photos and share what they’ve been up to on the weekends, whether it’s a family gathering, a road trip with friends, or even an epic brunch, and this fun new feature will let you stitch together those special photos into a format that captures the spirit of the event," Facebook explained in a statement.
With the launch of the new capability, Facebook puts itself in competition with the upcoming Memories tab in Apple's iOS 10, which should launch this fall, and Google Photos' Movie Assistant. Facebook Slideshow is now available for those using the Facebook app on the iPhone or iPad.
