As games strive to become more and more realistic, EA sports has brought in a heavy hitter for its upcoming shooter game Medal of Honor: Warfighter.
The Los Angeles Times reported that the popular gaming company has hired a Tier One Navy Seals commando who participated in the Operation Neptune Spear that killed Osama bin Laden as a consultant.
The consultant, Matte Bissonnette, who retired from the Navy wrote a tell-all book under a pseudonym of the raid that killed Bin Laden called "No Easy Day" is set to hit markets on Sept. 11 and is published by Penguin Group.
"We cannot comment on the identity of consultants who worked with us on 'Medal of Honor: Warfighter,'" spokesman for EA Jeff Brown said.
Acclaimed director Steven Spielberg created the series to complement his movie "Saving Private Ryan," which was based on World War II story in 1999. But now the series has been modernized to catch the attention of hard-core gamers who want accuracy and high level of detail said The Times.
The team at EA consulted with many Special Forces soldiers on "settings, weapons and other aspects of the fighting" in the new game to make sure the game is realistic and authentic to gamers. Goodrich confirmed that Warfighter will not be based on the Bin Laden story.
Previously Ghost Recon: Future Soldier used the rescue of Captain Richard against the Somali pirates to advertise their game and claim authenticity. We can hope Warfighter will make the best use of talents and add an extra realistic touch. The game will be released on Oct. 23 for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
