Capcom surprised the game aficionados by revealing a "Resident Evil" spin-off game, called "Umbrella Corps" on June 21. As fans are expecting "Resident Evil 7," the new title appeared without carrying the renowned survival video game's name.
In Japan, "Umbrella Corps" is known as "Biohazard: Umbrella Corps" and "Biohazard" is famous for being a "Resident Evil" title in the said East Asian country.
'Umbrella Corps' Inspired By Resident Evil
"Umbrella Corps" is a three-versus-three online multiplayer tactical shooter game that fights each other's team.
It has the same settings from "Resident Evil" that "Umbrella Corps" players will quickly recall, as per Tech Times.
In fact, "Umbrella Corps" has a selection of maps inspired by the backdrop of the world of "Resident Evil."
Free DLCs
Capcom revealed an introduction trailer of "Umbrella Corps" that gave a glimpse of the game's upcoming free DLCs in the last quarter of 2016.
New maps will come to "Umbrella Corps," one will feature the notorious Spencer Mansion while the other one includes the streets of Lanshiang, China from "Resident Evil 6."
The "Umbrella Corps" expansion pack will also have a new game mode, called 4 Survivors. It has a free-for-all style that will let the players fight one another, but with limited ammo and health in a little dark environment.
'Resident Evil' 7
Meanwhile, Capcom is expected to make "Resident Evil" with major improvements. It has been said that the seventh installment of the game series will be played in virtual reality, but there'll be more for it, Engadget reported.
"Resident Evil 7" will be back to the same concept the original survival horror game has and is known for. As seen on its demo and trailer, it gave a glimpse of a scarier and a more psychological disturbing gameplay.
It is indeed a great pride for Capcom and the coming "Resident Evil 7," but it is still a working progress for the game.
Masachika Kawata, "Resident Evil" series producer, assured that the game aficionados will surely enjoy "Resident Evil 7" and they can handle playing it on PlayStation VR.
He, too, added that it will give fans a different kind of "Resident Evil" experience this time, either using PSVR or not.
"Umbrella Corps" is now available for PC and PlayStation 4 with a starting price of $30 while "Resident Evil 7" is expected to be released on Jan. 24, 2017.
