J.K. Rowling proudly presents a 'new hero' in the wizardry world in a two-and-a-half-minute official featurette as part of the upcoming November movie adaptation of her book "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them."
In the featurette, the celebrated author of the best-selling "Harry Potter" series introduces Newt Scamander, a magical zoologist who goes on an excursion to locate and study magical creatures all over the world. Rowling described the character played award-winning actor Eddie Redmayne as a wizard who is more comfortable in the company of magical creatures than with humans.
"My heroes are always people who feel themselves to be set apart, stigmatized, or others. That's at the heart of most of what I write, and it's certainly at the heart of this movie," she explains in the clip.
In the upcoming movie where Rowling debuts as a screenwriter, the audience is taken to the same world they enjoyed and loved during the days of the "Harry Potter" series but in a different time and place. According to Entertainment Weekly, the footages from the film that were included in the featurette shows Newt in New York City during the 1920s where he not only discovers magical creatures but also understands the differing culture between the British and the Americans.
"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" is based on J.K. Rowling's a book from her Hogwarts Library collection which served as Harry Potter's textbook while he was studying at the school of witchcraft and wizardry. Joining Redmayne in the cast is Katherine Waterston as the American witch Porpentina Goldstein. Carmen Ejogo, Colin Farrell, Ron Perlman, Ezra Miller, Jon Voight, Samantha Morton, Gemma Chan, and Alison Sudol are also featured in the film.
"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" is directed by "Harry Potter" helmer David Yates. It is set for release in theaters on November 18, 2016.
