'Mass Effect: Andromeda" Release Date, Plot, News: Andromeda Not Affected By ME3 Ending Choice

Months before the highly anticipated "Mass Effect: Andromeda" release date, Bioware has some important announcement to all excited fans. According to the company, whatever players did in the previous game, "Mass Effect 3," shall have no bearing on the new game.

In the finale of the previous game, players had a lot of possible endings such as synthesizing every life form or taking control of the Reapers. Both actions, as every player of the game knows, have drastic consequences to the entire Milky Way Galaxy. Fortunately, none of those choices matters when "Mass Effect: Andromeda" release date comes next year.

A Fresh Start

Aaryn Flynn, Bioware Studio boss, wants "Mass Effect: Andromeda" to be a new story, reports GameSpot. Naturally, it would be hard to tell a new story if developers had to take into consideration the effects of decisions made in the previous game.

In the "Mass Effect: Andromeda," Flynn further clarified that "There are no green-skinned people, to be clear." Flynn was referring to the ME 3 finale option where everyone gets synthesized turning them greenish.

But Acknowledges Mass Effect Lore

Yet, developers assure that the upcoming "Mass Effect: Andromeda" will not be totally ignoring the legacy of the "Mass Effect" trilogy. In fact, the lore which is already well-known by its fans is necessary for players to appreciate and feel right at home in the new game.

"Mass Effect: Andromeda" Plot Setting

Gamers who are confused how the new "Mass Effect: Andromeda" could acknowledge events of the ME 3 finale yet not be bound by it would need to brush up on astronomy. The Andromeda Galaxy is a different galaxy, separate from the Milky Way in which the "Mass Effect 3" was set.

In fact, it was hinted at by Lynn that the choice of a new galaxy as the setting of "Mass Effect: Andromeda" solves the mess created by ME 3's finale. Since it is located in another galaxy, developers don't need to explain the lack of synthesized people and other stuff. What happens in Milk Way stays in Milky Way so to speak.

"Mass Effect: Andromeda" Ark Theory

While Lynn did not go into details how people who got there are still not partly synthetic, a theory has been put forward to explain it. The "Mass Effect: Andromeda" Ark Theory simply states that during the Reaper War in ME 3, they sent a self-sufficient ship or ark full of people and other life-forms to the Andromeda Galaxy as a contingency plan. It's similar in concept to Noah's ark, the difference is that it is intergalactic in nature.

"Mass Effect: Andromeda" Release Date

EA and Bioware have already announced that the game would be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Window. While no exact date has been announced yet, "Mass Effect: Andromeda" release date is already slated for March 2017
