'Sherlock Holmes' Finest Enemy
DenofGeek further explained that Culverton Smith first appeared in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's "The Adventure of the Dying Detective," which was originally published in 1913.
According to the story, the villain was said to have murdered his nephew and was targeting Sherlock Holmes next.
Smith will set a trap that will set off an infectious disease. However, Sherlock Holmes recognized the trap and pretended to have gotten ill. Pretending that he was going to die, Sherlock Holmes drew a confession from Smith.
